The Colors of Spring

As the days get warmer and longer, Caledonia comes alive with its extraordinary foliage

Getting sick of the cold weather and gray days and ready to find yourself in a little more vibrant setting? Want to play golf at a place that is just as scenic as it is challenging and fun to play, a course that has long been considered one of the premier facilities in the country both for its beauty and caliber? Then you must book a tee time this spring at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club through Caledonia Golf Vacations, for the beauty of Caledonia come spring is simply overwhelming, and must be experienced by all who visit the Grand Strand.

Designed by the late, great Mike Strantz, Caledonia’s Lowcountry setting is captivating, along with its exciting layout, which offers a unique collaboration of design features, with large, undulating greens, creative bunkering and, most notably, many of the Lowcountry’s native elements such as marshy areas, towering live oaks and flowers in full bloom. Annuals that bloom in the spring include foxgloves, bachelor button, Iceland poppies, wallflowers, snapdragons and many others, all of it creating the effect of a golf course lit up by bright purples, blues, yellows and oranges, making for an experience that is truly spectacular.

Those oaks and native flowers in bloom set a pristine backdrop for Caledonia’s marquee stretch of par 4s, Nos. 14, 15 and 16. No. 14 is a demanding hole that forces players to hit it over a water hazard to the left to gain a better angle into the green. No. 15 features prominent bunkering down the left, making driving the ball accurately an absolute must. And No. 16 includes more fairway bunkers and a small lake protecting the green to the front-right.

Come spring, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club becomes what has to be regarded as one of the most inspiring scenes to play golf anywhere there is. The flowers, the oaks, the golf and good times: all of it awaits this spring with Caledonia Golf Vacations.
