Strantz Spotlight: #10 at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

Mike Strantz puts an emphasis on accuracy when you play one of his golf courses. Missing fairways and greens at many of his properties often results in a penal outcome. On the par-five 10th at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club you see visual evidence of this right off the tee, and also around the green.

When you kick off your back nine experience at Caledonia, your tee shot at No. 10 needs to avoid the Spanish moss-covered oak trees on the right side. These trees cover the famous entry road which is marked as out of bounds. On the left side you have more room to miss once you get past the pond and trees. A tee shot left will find the lone fairway bunker or the 8th fairway.

But the fun really begins on the next shot. On the right side of the fairway sits a waste area that prevents balls from trundling onto the road. This expansive waste area runs up just short of the green. You can get aggressive and try to carry that on the second shot, or play it safe and lay up to the top of the hill.

The small green on No. 10 is shaped like a small funnel. The back slopes toward the middle and the front slopes toward the middle and sides. Avoid the two bunkers and picturesque landscaping around the green.

Accuracy is rewarded at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, and nowhere is this more evident than at No. 10. Let us know how you did on this hole the next time you come see us!
