Holes Final Shot For Birdie to Halve His Match at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club
Pawleys Island, SC – On Thursday, June 5th, an avid golfer from Greenwood, IN completed his personal quest to play every Myrtle Beach area golf course. He punctuated the accomplishment by chipping in from the bunker on his final hole, the par-3 9th at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club for a birdie to halve his match.
This week, Bob Jordan, a 4 handicap, was here to participate in the “Listeners Cup,” a three-day tournament hosted by PGA TOUR Radio hosts Matt Adams, Brian Katrek and John Maginnes at Caledonia and True Blue Golf Club.
Bob’s journey began 24 years ago when he attended a golf show in Indiana. “I stopped at the Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday booth,” recalls Jordan. “The gentleman in the booth mentioned something about summer golf events for families, and that began our love affair with Myrtle Beach. My son and I have played a lot of golf together which influenced his career path as a golf instructor. My wife took up the game and now she plays more than 100 rounds per year.”
About ten years ago, Bob sat down and started checking off the different courses he had played in Myrtle Beach. “At the time, there were 123 courses,” Bob recounts. “I had already played more than half, so I began to formulate a plan to play the rest.” Bob outlined a schedule and intentionally saved True Blue and Caledonia Golf & Fish Club for last. “In April, I heard the guys on the radio talking about “The Listeners Cup” and the courses they were playing, I knew it was destiny,” Jordan continued. “At that time, I had four courses left to play…The Fazio and Dye courses at Barefoot, and Caledonia and True Blue. I played The Fazio several weeks ago, then came earlier this week to play The Dye Course.“
As he was coming off the course, it was evident that Bob was feeling a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. “It was always my plan to save the best for last, and Caledonia did not disappoint.”
