A year after seeing a record-setting performance, GolfWeek Magazine’s Program Challenge Tournament returns to Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club for a fifth-straight year on Sept. 6-8, 2015. The tournament features 18 NCAA Division I men’s and women’s squads from 10 different states, including the defending overall team champion, Old Dominion.
The men and women will be broken up into two different divisions, with the men competing at True Blue and the women teeing off at Caledonia. The Program Challenge Tournament will hand out titles to the top men’s and women’s team, along with an overall team title to one collegiate program, which is determined by the program’s men’s and women’s combined total score.
The 18 schools slated to participate include: Austin Peay State (Clarksville, Tenn.), Bethune-Cookman (Daytona Beach, Fla.), Cambell (Buies Creek, N.C.), Elon (Elon, N.C.), Gardner-Webb (Gardner Webb, N.C.), Houston Baptist (Houston, Texas), Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (Indianapolis, Ind.), Jacksonville (Jacksonville, Fla.), Jacksonville State (Jacksonville, Ala.), James Madison (Harrisonburg, Va.), Marshall (Huntington, W.Va.), Mercer (Macon, Ga.), Morehead State (Morehead, Ky.), Old Dominion (Norfolk, Va.), Radford (Radford, Va.), Stetson (DeLand, Fla.), Tennessee Tech (Cookeville, Tenn.) and Valparaiso (Valparaiso, Ind.).
Last year, Old Dominion was the winner on the men’s side and claimed the program title, while Furman won the women’s title. The 2014 Program Challenge Tournament also featured a record-breaking performance from Jacksonville State’s then-senior Tomasz Anderson, who fired a 12-under 60 on the final day of competition. Anderson’s score not only set the True Blue course record from any tee, but also bested the previous top mark by three strokes.
“This tournament has become one of the highlights of the year at our courses, and always features a competitive field,” said Bob Seganti, director of golf operations of Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club. “We are proud to host these outstanding young golfers and provide them with a one-of-a-kind experience to play with their peers in the ‘golf capitol of the world.’”
